Story:
The diclonius (two-horned human) was a mutant created by humans. It had a special ability that could be described as a sixth sense. The mutants had enough power to exterminate the whole human race. Humans being afraid of their powers, they were isolated into research labs to be studied. One of the diclonius girls named Lucy broke out of confinement, killed the guards and escaped from the laboratory. She feel into the ocean after being shot and ended up on a beach. There she met Kota and Yuka, they named her Nyu and began to live with her.
Storyline: 9/10
The first 10 minutes or so involve a humanoid agent of death escaping her confines in a government laboratory. Lucy is a cold blooded killer who takes down 20+ guards in under 5 minutes in a very gory showdown with human limbs and heads flying everywhere. No, this isn't for small children or the faint of heart. She's also naked as she makes her escape, though the nudity is downplayed in the drawing style. Action, gore, nakedness. Hmm...quite an anime.
Characters: 8/10
The characters are all interesting. It seems that each character has a hidden mystery or past to yet be revealed. Romantic tensions between cousins is rather odd which maes Yuka my least favourite character. As for my favourite so far, I'd say Nyuu/Lucy. So Lucy, some mutant that has a split personality. One minute shes like some cute little plushie doll that doesn't understand what surrounds her, next minute she goes hyper and turns into a lean mean fighting machine known as Lucy. Pretty funny if you ask me.
Animation: 8.5/10
Animation is beautiful with lots of vivid colours and lovely backgrounds. The intro opening to the anime is beautiful and contains loads of vibrant patterns and colours like a artistic painting, with Lucy posing and standing still. In one anime I havent seen so much detail from a simple to high level. it sometimes depends on the scene however.
Music/Soundtrack: 8/10
Love the opening theme "Lilium", which has a dark, eerie feel. A woman sings passionately in Latin to a slow paced instrumental accompaniment. The closing theme "Be Your Girl" has more of a pop/alternative guitar riff that transforms into a j-pop melody.

This anime tends to remind me alot about Hellsing which too has a very good bloody action likeness to it. The fact that you have some mutant freak killing everyone, no mercy leaving no one alive but herself..nakedness...and gore. Gotta go ahead and watch it people.
