Story:
Hideki Motosuwa, an 18 year old boy, that lives in a farm far from the city. He is planning to go to Tokyo to attend collage, or at least that is what he wants. Upon receiving a letter that says he is a dropout, Hideki decides to go to Tokyo anyway to attend prep school. Once arrived, he sees a persocom for the first time. Persocoms are computers that look exactly like people, the only difference is that they have strange ears. After stumbling across such a computer his whole life will take wild turn.
Storyline: 9/10
The first episode introduces the viewer to world of persocoms. Hideki finds Chii ,the persocom which will change his life, in the garbage area, while walking home from the local shop. He picks it up and takes it back home. There aren’t many grandiose plots, but it has a solid storyline for a romance\comedy style anime.
Characters: 9/10
The characters are all right in my opinion, not to stupid or naïve for this type of anime. There is some sort of mystery regarding Chi, why she got thrown out, but that will be revealed later on. Hideki and the others are also good characters, each with his own personality placed well in the scene.
Animation: 8/10
The animation is perfect for the anime. Mostly the action happens in the city or in Hideki’s house so there isn’t much to talk about. The character drawings are also good, with normal colors nothing to “rainbowish”.
Music\soundtrack 7.5/10:
I personally liked the opening theme; it is kinda cute with Chi’s voice in it. The rest of the sounds are also fitting for the action… nothing extraordinary though.
English DUB: 10/10
I am a pretty big fan of the English dubs, its much easier for me to concentrate on the action that reading the subs, even if it isn’t my native language. The whole dub is very nice, the voice come fairly close the original ones. Also Chi has a cute voice in each language, so the dub was really nice.
Overall score: 8.7/10
Both the eng and jap voices are nice. In my opinion it was one of the best romance animes I’ve ever seen, the whole storyline and the ending where very nice. If you ever feel like being a gamemaster in any online game, then find yourself a chobits model and start the fun(no batteries included ).
